Africadian Empowerment Academy
A purpose-led rebrand that repositioned an education organisation as the defining institution of Africadian identity and ambition.
Africadian Empowerment Academy
Formerly known as the East Preston Empowerment Academy, the organisation served a critical function in its community but its brand had not kept pace with its expanding ambition. The rebrand to Africadian Empowerment Academy was not merely a name change; it was a strategic declaration of identity, purpose, and belonging for the Africadian community of Nova Scotia.
Mcafan, partnering with Halifax-based Joyeoux Strategic Marketing Services, was commissioned to develop a full brand strategy anchored in genuine community truth.
"Transforming Lives, Empowering Dreams." A brand promise that carries both the weight of heritage and the forward momentum of possibility.
How we worked
The engagement covered the full spectrum of brand strategy: Purpose, defining why the organisation exists beyond its functional mandate; Personality, establishing how the brand should speak, feel, and present itself; Promise, articulating the commitment made to every student and community member; Positioning, identifying the unique space the Academy could own in the education landscape; and Essence, distilling the brand into its irreducible core truth.
The result
The completed brand strategy gave the Africadian Empowerment Academy a clear, confident identity that reflects the pride, resilience, and forward ambition of the community it serves. The strategy now underpins all communications and programme development through africadian.org.
